We had quite the rainy and blistery day. We've always heard about the rainy season of Japan but the two times before that we've been here we never experienced it. This year however it was proven to not be mythical.
It's cherry blossom season right now which is very short, about a week. Full bloom will be in a few days so we figured that Sunday would be our best bet for getting the full experience up in Tokyo, hoping to visit Shinjuku Gyoen again. Unfortunately with the weather we decided to forgo the trip until next weekend hoping the blossoms will still be impressive.
Chris has been battling some cold bugs and I'm still working through all my kidney stuff so we've been tag teaming this weekend between napping and watching Gabriel. This particular day I got to sleep in but once I woke up Chris went back to bed for a few hours. Gabe is a huge lover of the outdoors and if it's showering outside we'll venture but today was a little too wild. Books, puzzles, blocks, cars, and balls can only distract him so long before he starts to demand 'side' and throwing my shoes at me so we had to bust out the big guns and went for painting!
I've tried painting once before but made a newbie mistake and gave Gabriel highly toxic (guessing) dollar store acrylic paint... Yes I actually didn't think he'd try to eat the paint nor did I think he'd go outside the large piece of paper. For our second go round I laid down a dollar store table clothe, dollar store child's apron, and used washable non-toxic finger paints. In addition to the paint brush I added the much enjoy matchbox car!
Gabriel was a little hesitant at first but slowly gained speed and had a great time! Afterwards he took the still saturated paint brush into the bathtub and continued the painting fun on the bathtub walls but not before getting a glimpse of himself in the mirror and getting a tad scared.

This looks so fun! Little J has never painted before, but I think we may have to try it! It's not quite warm enough to do anything else yet!
ReplyDeleteWe love arts & crafts! I paint Cash's hands & feet, coloring on the chalkboard, tissue paper crafts, gluing, etc. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeletewow thank you for this! It has been driving me nuts for months! I dont so much mind some of my photos being uploaded where it looks like my face is smoothed out.. But what was bugging me most was all my WHITE or light photos coming up dark and discolored! :( UGH! Anyways, I appreciate this post!!

I didn't know what was going on either. It was making my Free Card Printables load up really dark. It looks perfect now, so thank you! http://pickledokra.blogspot.com/2014/04/free-easter-card-printable.html

ReplyDeleteAh, you are the BEST! This has been driving me nuts for months!!!! Now here's hoping it won't mess up all the images I had to brighten so darn much during that time to get them to look normal on the blog! THANK YOU!!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you came across this and it helped! Frustrating how easy of a fix it was huh?
ReplyDeleteDon't mention it! I'm just happy I wasn't alone in all the frustration!

ReplyDeleteThis was a very funny and helpful post, thank you for the laughs and for the WHITE backgrounds. "Auto Enhance." Pfft.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this! I have had this annoying me for a year! Finally decided to google it myself and found your blog. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou just saved me. I thought I was imagining this problem. Thank you thank you. Do you know if there is a simple way to un-do the autocorrect? Or do you have to re-upload all those images? Which I don't have time for. :(
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely welcome! Excuse the late response. :)
ReplyDeleteA year?! Oh my word, how did you do it?! That's so long to have dealt with this annoying problem.
ReplyDeleteHaha, glad I helped you realize you weren't crazy! Unfortunately I believe you fix it by re-uploading all the images sadly.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem, but when uploading certain photo's to WordPress, I can't figure out what the trigger is, but nice bright photo's are really dark and dull when I upload them. It's an enigma and if anyone knows the answer, please let me know!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your help! My images with a white background looked just terrible, so I started saving them with a transparent background. Hopefully the problem's fixed for good now!
ReplyDeleteI've been having this problem for a while, and started to use my images in png, because it was the only way they turned out fine. I finally decided there must be something wrong with my account, and googled it, which brought me here. Thank you for your post, it really helped me solve this annoying problem.

ReplyDeleteYou are so very welcome!
ReplyDeleteHi Lena, it wasn't a WordPress problem, but an issue with the photographs. I tried saving my photo's in different formats and settings and uploading them and now they are bright. I can't remember exactly what I did, I wrote it down but can't find the note
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I couldn't figure this out for the life of me until today!
ReplyDeleteSo glad I found this! What an annoyance you have saved me from!
