Friday Favs!

Happy Friday everyone! Any fun plans for the weekend? I think we might visit the local Plum Blossom Park to see how the blooming is going. We've been a couple times in the past- the first time was just days before the March 2011 Japan Earthquake and the second was last year with Chris' parents!

Now for my favorites from the week...

We're just starting this journey of being parents and this advice is going to be just as valuable now as it will be 5-100 years from now.

Strawberry Lemonade Beer. I know I shared an alcoholic drink last Friday Favorites I did too, I can't help it! It has to be the, "want what you can't have" but I do not remember craving beer this bad last time around.

I've made this bread TWICE this week, so crazy good! I the third time I'm planning on trying to make it with melted butter instead of vegetable oil. I've stopped baking with shortening and usually don't bake with vegetable oil- depending on the type of baking I substitute coconut oil, applesauce, or butter.

I want to have a reason for a girly party so I can make these. SO beautiful and fun! This tutorial is absolutely wonderful! Great pictures and very thorough. Check it out!

I have always dreamed of having blueberry bushes. As a child we had tons of wild logan berry bushes growing on our property that I called wild blueberries. This past fall we received a generous gift certificate to a local nursery (based off the amount of money we had spent there previously in the year) and we bought two bushes because I had heard they do best with two! Well what I didn't know was that I needed to get two bushes of different breeds, fail. This article was informative and we plan to get a third bush when we get home. I hope this doesn't cause us to loss out on berries this year... anyone know a think or two about blueberries?

  1. The bread looks amazing! I've a few failed forays into bread-making, though. Maybe this recipe will do the trick!

  2. Oh, how I learned the truthfulness of that first quote this week. I am sooo much happier when I just simply slow down and enjoy my children.

  4. It's so good and one of the easiest breads I have ever made! You should totally go for it! The first time I made it I didn't do the egg wash on top and it was just fine. :)

  5. I've had great success with blueberries (minus the fact our dog eats the berries off the bushes!). Sometimes I help pollinate with a little paintbrush! :)
