Yes, you read that right. The other day I was talking to a girlfriend about my whole blogging thing (is that what I call it?) and she said that there was a blog she liked reading that simply did reviews on kid's toys. I thought that would be helpful and it made me start think about what I could review that would (hopefully) benefit some of my readers- hence potty seats.
I know not all my readers are mommies but a good chunk of you are! I don't claim to be a 'mommy' blog because I share so much more than just being a mom but sometimes I'll share a very mommy post- friends, this is one of those times.
Some of you might be thinking, "what do you know about potty seats, your son is not even 11 months old?" Well I actually know quite a bit because we have been using them for about 7 months now. For more on that you can read this here and you can read about our little set back here. Also, where can you find underwear smaller than 2T?
Here are the three potty seats we have tried:
- The First Years Disney Pixar Soft Potty Seat: As the names says this is a soft seat- our son didn't seems to have any problems with the feel of the seat. This seat didn't fit our Japanese toilet properly but that is probably because Japanese toilets are different. The shield is a great height that captures all pees. The down fall of this seat is that it is actually three different parts: plastic body, cushion seat, and pee shield. Pee could and would seep between the frame and cushion and if Gabriel spits up while sitting on the potty that too gets stuck in between the three parts. $10.39 on Amazon
- Arm & Hammer Secure Comfy Potty Seat: Once again, like the names says it was secure. What I liked about this seat is that it is one piece however we only used it a couple days because the pee shield for boys is very short- we kept getting peed on! It's also entirely plastic so it can get cold which Gabriel did not care for. $9.99 on Amazon
- Dreambaby Soft Touch Potty Seat: This seat is made out of flexible foam. The seat is soft, one piece, and sits secure with a tall pee shield. What I don't like about this seat is that it doesn't have any handles. It's easy to pick up off the toilet without touching "dirty" spots but I like Gabriel having the ability to hold handles- it's not a deal breaker, just a preference. Also, the pee shield is just a wall and not a 'cave' (does that make sense?) so there can be some back splash but I find back splash on him better than I myself getting peed on. $13.99 on Amazon
My potty seat hunt has ended with toilet topper number three. I absolutely love the material it is made out of and that it is one piece- so easy to clean! Gabriel also seems to enjoy the seat too. If number 1 was one solid pieced it would be my favorite but unfortunately having the seat be multiple parts was a deal breaker due to cleanliness.
Are you using any one of these, what are your thoughts? Are you using a different one?
If you have any specific questions about any of these seats please do no hesitate to ask!
