Okay I have FINALLY made them! I know I have only been talking about it for probably a month now- I think? Either way I know I might have strung a few of you along but fear no longer because I have finally made them and the husband was mighty pleased! The chai flavor leaves you for wanting more (if you're a chai-tea-aholic like me) and the white chocolate is the perfect amount of sweet! Trust me, you're going to want to make these!
Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1/8 cup sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon each of ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and ground cardamom
1 cup cold butter cubed
1 egg (beaten)
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup white chocolate chips
milk for brushing
sugar for sprinkling
Directions: (Preheat oven to 425') Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and seasonings until well mixed. Cut in butter until mixture looks crumbly. Stir in egg, yogurt, vanilla extract and white chocolate chips until mixed.
Empty onto a floured surface and knead just until dough comes together; do not over knead. Form and roll out into a 9" diameter circle. Brush with milk and sprinkle sugar on top generously. Cut into 8ths (sometimes I cut those 8ths in half rather than cutting the circle into 16ths), then bake at 425'F for 10-15 minutes on a baking sheet.
Delicious both warm and at room temperature!
