39 Weeks Preggo...

Wow cannot believe that once upon a time that gray cardigan used to nicely button all the way down fitting loosely over my torso...

It is really feeling like I am at the end of this. Cramping is increasing, a few random contractions, crazy burst of energy in the middle of the night... Yep, we're getting to the end of the pregnancy journey.

Last Friday I was in the pool at our local YMCA at 6am working it out in a river water class. I was feeling pretty good so after my shower I headed upstairs to speed walk at an incline on a treadmill for about half an hour. I thought I'd finish off with a brisk walk around the track for a mile but half way through I started getting contractions. Some of them hurt pretty bad, so bad I had to breath through them and grimaced but while trying really hard to not let on to anyone around me. I took out my phone and started timing them. It got to the point where I figured I should probably get home and finish packing up my bag and call Chris. I painfully headed back downstairs to my locker and managed my way back to the car. No sooner had I sat down and started driving away that they stopped and never returned... Bummer.

Your baby's the size of a watermelon!
Baby keeps growing, despite being so crowded in there. He probably weighs around 6.2 to 9.2 pounds and measures about 18.9 to 20.9 inches.

your baby at 39 weeks
  • He's probably able to flex his limbs now.
  • His brain is still rapidly developing -- he's getting smarter by the week!
  • His nails may extend past his fingertips.

I have gained spurts of extreme energy at random times throughout the day (and middle of the night/morning). These have made Chris excited, "they said that would happen before the baby comes!" I've explained to him that baby IS indeed coming at some point and just because I am nesting doesn't mean he might not come "late."

Yesterday morning in the pool the older ladies were telling me baby was coming that night because I had too much energy during our aerobics class, "go home, shave your legs and paint your nails!" is what they were ordering me to do. After my hard aerobic workout I did half an hour on the treadmill with a 5 incline at a pace between 3.5 and 4, and finished with speed walking around the track for a mile... All that did was make me tired, not even a single contraction this time. Praying baby will come when he is ready and healthy so I shouldn't be too disappointed. :)

It's not actually that I feel like he is taking forever, it's just strange playing the waiting game, knowing labor can be minutes or weeks away! However, it is nice feeling more ready as every day goes by. The more time allows for more frozen casseroles, more cleaning, and more organizing. Can I dare say that the nursery is ACTUALLY finished?! Yes, completely put together, wow! The breast pump I ordered should be here today too! Originally I was not going to buy the pump until some time after Gabriel was born but after talking to many moms it sounded like a breast pump was something that could be a blessing to have around if my milk comes in quick after birth.

Awhile back Christopher let it slip that he hoped Gabe was late. He was putting a lot of pressure on himself to get his house project to-do list done but once the kitchen cabinet doors were installed and the nursery closet finished he started hoping Gabe would come early! He's ready to get some "off" time from work. For the last 2 years Chris has taken little to no time off from work and for this reason he is actually taking 4 weeks off once baby comes! He's fully aware that this wont feel like a vacation but he's just ready for a break from his work environment. On the other hand he is also aware that he'll probably feel ready to go back to work at the end of the 4 weeks. :)

So here we are, 39 weeks along asking ourselves if we'll have a baby before we reach our due date in 7 days or possibly up to two weeks after the fact!

  1. Even 39 weeks pregnant you have the most adorable, put-together outfits! I love being a creeper and reading all about your life haha. What a journey! By the way, Allen says he hopes your little boy is born on his birthday (August 4). Even though he doesn't know you or Chris or anything, he still says it would be "the coolest thing EVER"! haha!

    1. You're sweet, thanks! :) It's not creeping when I make (certain parts) of my life so very public on a blog! :) No worries.

I hope he comes on Allen's birthday too (if not sooner...) since the 4th is before the 7th, my due date!

I love reading your comments so please don't be shy! I'll usually even invite myself over after you've dropped a note to see what you're up to!
