Thankful Thursday {6}

This is why gratitude is so central to the life God made us for. Until we can center ourselves on what we do have, on what God has given us, on the life we do get to love, we'll constantly be looking for another life. That is why the word remember occurs again and again in the Bible. God commands his people to remember who they are, where they've been, what they've seen what's been done for them. If we stop remembering, we may forget. And that's when the trouble comes. -Sex God by Rob Bell, pg 74

I read this last night while winding down for bed. This is why I have 'Thankful Thursdays,' so that instead of spending time thinking about what could make our life "better", what we want , where we want to go (more, more, more, us, us, us), I spend time recognizing the things in my life that I am thankful for.

This week I want to first recognize Mr. Stokes. Stokely is our new cat who has changed our life in the most wonderful ways in just a matter of four days! What a difference it makes having this little guy around the house while Chris is gone. As I type this he is laying asleep up my left arm. I know Christopher and I can be perceived as biased on this topic, but we do believe he is the best kitten I have ever met! As I cleaned the shower this afternoon, he just sat on the scale watching me, as I wash dishes he follows me around the kitchen, when I have a seat he comes to my lap. This kitten wants to be apart of all the action, and I love that.

Chris and I also had a fabulous weekend filled with Whaling Days fireworks, Chinese fire engine ping-pong, and sweet community with local friends. Continuing to root in Kitsap and it feels so good!

Lastly, I got to hear the sweet voice of my friend Tricia! What a treat!

  1. Not all cats are like that, but the ones that are sure are sweet! Our kitten (ok, she's over a year old now so not really a 'kitten') seems to think she's a dog, and can't stand to not has us in sight! It's so nice to have a little animal trotting around and following you, isn't it?! That must be so nice, to have him around while home alone. I'm glad you found such a perfect kitty! (and SO gorgeous!)

    (also, in my biased opinion, Xyla is the best there! :) )

  2. Total dog mentality! I've never seen a cat respond to 'come' like little Stokes does!

I love reading your comments so please don't be shy! I'll usually even invite myself over after you've dropped a note to see what you're up to!
