Thankful Thursday!

For the next month I want to try something new, I want to use Thursday to share with you what I am thankful for from the week. Some Thursdays it might be as simple as a smile from a child in the grocery store while other weeks might be something more personal or grand. The reason why I  am choosing to do this is because for the last few months life has been a mix of extreme highs and lows and unfortunately the lows tend to steal the scene from the highs.

Back in my RAing days at Washington State we would watch a video during fall training (pains me to know what I'm about to disclose after all those years of mocking) that was called simply, 'The Fish Video.' Now I don't remember entirely what the basic premise of the video was, something RA-y, but I do remember a fish thrower from the Pike's Place Seattle Fish Market rambling on and on about choose your attitude.

Here is one of my first steps in choosing my attitude, highlighting what to be thankful for rather than focusing my energy on the pitfalls. This week three things I am thankful for are,

  • Low-key afternoon crafting party with a friend at the dinning room table
  • Two year subscription to BHG (Better Homes and Garden) for the low price of $11, AND the 2011 Favorites cookbook
  • A husband who found an extreme amount of patience with me over being a couple weeks late on cleaning the bathrooms.... oops!
As you can see, pretty simple right? You might be thinking, why are you thankful for a magazine subscription? Well, sitting and reading through a magazine brings me a lot of joy and peace, they relax me, and two years for $11?! That's a pretty sweet deal.

  1. Love this post..I find myself lookinng for those little gems amid the highs and lows. Sometimes it is as simple as a bubble bath! Lynn

  2. The new blog looks amazing. I am so THANKFUL I have this avenue to keep up-to-da date on everything. I can't believe it's been two years since Pullman. I am glad you guys are doing so well, please keep in touch

I love reading your comments so please don't be shy! I'll usually even invite myself over after you've dropped a note to see what you're up to!
