Friday Night Getaway

Christopher leaves for Japan tomorrow. I write this without giving the statement much thought for obvious reasons. Last week, Chris proposed an idea of us having a little getaway before he took off, I agreed.
Friday came around and at 4 o’clock he picked me up from work and it was off to dinner we went. We enjoyed a lovely meal at Anthony’s in Bremerton where they have a fabulous dinner called the ‘Sunset Dinner Special.’ For $19.95 you get a four coarse meal! It was actually more live five if you count the basket of bread they place on the table when your water is poured. I was so full from the bread, appetizer (Chris tried oysters for the first time!), and chowder that I only had two bites of my Idaho Trout! I sheepishly asked the waitress for a to-go box for practically a whole meal.
I had no idea where we were staying for the night and I was glad of that too! What a wonderful surprise when we pulled up to a historic resort on Hood Canal! The resort was Alderbrook Resort, which has been in operation since 1913! We had a wonderful time enjoying the view of the water, the large (and deep!) pool, sauna, steam room, dock, and comfy room! Just the perfect little getaway for us before we’re separated for a few weeks.
I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a place to escape to. For the quality and all that is offered the price per night is remarkably reasonable. We’re hoping to find a time during the summer to return to Alderbrook so that we can enjoy the sunshine and water there.
(Trying to make the single serving, plastic bottle of wine classy.)
(These Gummy Bears were $10!)
(Total cost would be $64… We gave in to the $4 Red Vine.)
(A 4:30am alarm every morning means “sleeping in” on the weekends turns into waking up before 7am. Early morning eyes and smiles!)
(The Olympics trying to peak out and through the clouds!)
(Fell in love with this house.)
We were only there for 17 hours but it felt like a long and rejuvenating stay! Exactly what we had hoped it would be.
